I'm in the middle right now. I dislike judging trades when they first happen, as most times it depends what happens down the road.

Aumont figures to be a closer or late inning guy, which will be interesting if Lidge experiences problems. Will they give him a shot? Go back to Madson? Myers? The scenarios are endless.

I need to do some research on Ramierze. Don't know a lot about him, which usually isn't the best deal when it comes to prospects, but I might have overlooked him. You may have saw the e-mail chain I pointed out Gavin Floyds success in Chicago, and meanwhile what have the pitchers we've acquired ourselves amounted to so far? That concerns me.

I'm not all that concerned about losing the catcher, but we shall see.

As I mentioned earlier, love the live blogging, Ch...

As I mentioned earlier, love the live blogging, Chris!

I think D-JAX has the flash, arrogance, and ability to be the next Prime Time! Putting that in to perspective, however, Reid has had a decent amount of talent over the last couple years and all though they have been successful, coaching in my opinion is characterized by SB wins. When looking at a guy like Dan Marino, you excuse his inability to win a SB because his numbers are fantastic. And that's not saying Reids' numbers aren't good, because they certainly are, but with the teams he's had, he certainly should have a championship. My question is this. Would we be sitting here having this discussion if the Phillies would have won the World Series? I believe not, which is why I am viewing the Phillies losing the series as a positive in this aspect. Looking back on baseball history, significant events have had to occur to bring about change, see free agency. My thoughts are that if an incredible talented team like the Phillies can be taken down rather easily by a team that outspent them by a whopping eighty-eight million plus dollars, that maybe, just maybe, the Commissioners and his cronies will finally take a hard look in to a salary cap. Your thoughts?

-Greg

Haven't seen anything today, hope all is well, Chr...

Haven't seen anything today, hope all is well, Chris!

I think we got what we asked for, a fighters chance. It's mystifying to me that he would start throwing them to some of the Yankees best hitters when he has not thrown many of them, and they were especially limited in the post-season. McCarver, for all the dumb things he says, said it best when he said "why throw your third best pitch to the pitcher?" and he's exactly right. The Eagles defense didn't play bad, but did not get key stops when they needed to, and Jeremiah Trotter looks every bit a man who is over the hill.

Jed made a good point tonight, saying that every time we start harping on Reid, his team turns it around in a hurry, which is true I suppose. Our bullpen has been full of inconsistencies and tense moments as you have eluded to. The Dodgers are solid in the bullpen, but any bullpen is open to a challenge if their starters are roughed up and they are used early and often. The biggest storyline will be the bullpen, but the starters need to be watched closely. Cole Hammels has struggled throughout the year, and did not look good in his play-off start. Whether that was due to the anxiety or not, I don't know, but it needs to be changed, fast. Joe Blanton has been solid throughout the season, and he would be my choice to start Game 2. Still not sure J.A. Happ can handle the post-season pressure, and Pedro hasn't pitched in forever.

The bench is another good call. Ben Francisco has performed outstanding in his limited action, and his sliding catch against Colorado may have been a game and series changer. Not much pinch hitting off the bench, which my become an issue later in the series.

Cannot wait for this one to get underway!

Great post Chris!
